The touch of regal-ness seems to help, as Lizzie takes a deep breath and tries out a tiny smile. It's shaky, but passable.

"I'm fine," Lizzie says, testing out the words. "I'm definitely not where I expected to be, and I'm fine."

The deep breath seems to help, as she remembers both her name and manners.

The smile steadies a bit. Amy has that effect on people.

"I'm Lizzie. And I'm fine."

If she keeps saying it, it will become completely true instead of mostly true. Right?
